Are you stay at a resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica and wondering what to? I booked a stay at an all-inclusive resort in Montego Bay Jamaica on a whim and had a very similar question. All inclusive resorts are great for so many reasons but it’s hard to really experience a place if you never leave the resort. Here are some of the things to do in and around Montego Bay, Jamaica that would still give you a taste of Jamaica.
Doctor’s Cave Beach
Right in the heart of Montego Bay, Doctor’s Cave is a private beach with crystal clear turquoise blue waters.

The beach has a basic entry fee and you can stay as long as you want. You can add on other services for an extra fee.

Best way to get here from your hotel in Montego Bay is to book a hotel or local taxi.
Dunn’s River Falls
Dunn’s River Falls is a famous waterfall in Ocho Rios. The waterfall is 600 feet long and cascades in to the Caribbean sea. What’s unique about this waterfall is that you can climb the falls from start to finish. It was quite the experience climbing the falls with water gushing at you from all angles. It was a really awesome experience and I highly recommend it!

What to bring -Water shoes with a rubber sole are a must. A waterproof phone case is also recommended.
Ocho Rios is about 2-2.5 hours from Montego Bay depending on traffic. The best way to get here if you don’t want to rent a car is to book an excursion. I booked through Amstar.
Snorkeling
There is nothing I love to do more than snorkel. Although I cannot swim to save my life, just put me in a life jacket and give me a mask and I’ll jump into the middle of any sea or ocean. Snorkeling in Jamaica really didn’t disappoint. I got to snorkel in Ocho Rio as a part of a day cruise but Montego Bay also has a marine park where you can snorkel.

Sail on a Catamaran
Sail on the Caribbean in a a party boat with music and lots of rum! This was a part of the excursion I had booked with Amstar but you can do this in Montego Bay too as I saw several catamarans when I was at Doctor’s Cave

Eat Jerk Chicken
One of Jamaica’s signature dishes. I could have just had jerk chicken on the entire trip and been completely happy.

Try a Jamaican Patty
Jamaica’s version of a savory turnover! These meat filled pastries are a famous snack in Jamaica.

Taste Jamaican Rum
Rum is Jamaica’s alcoholic speciality if you consume alcohol. If you like cocktails, try a rum punch or a Bob Marley.

Where I stayed
I stayed at Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay and it was amazing! The best part was that I got upgraded to a room with a private pool area and 2 butlers!

The property itself is on a little peninsula which they share with their sister hotel, Secrets St.James. You can walk the length and breadth of both hotels without any restrictions.

There were several really great restaurants and the food was fantastic! I highly recommend this place!
