Best Boat Trip in Positano – A Perfect Way to See the Amalfi Coast

by shortgirlontour

The Amalfi Coast in southern Italy is one of the most beautiful places in the world! The rugged shoreline with sheer cliffs and pastel colored towns and villages are all a part of the beauty of this region. One of the best ways to see the Amalfi Coast is actually to see it from the water on a boat trip. This post covers how you can do this with a recommended provider.

This post is not sponsored by the boat company I am about to recommend but their service was so good that I could not keep this to myself.

It is no secret that everything in the Amalfi Coast is very expensive! Especially getting around the coast. Going from town to town either costs money (taxis or private drivers) or time (standing in lines waiting for the bus or ferries). And then you have to factor in the crowds too! Given all this, once of the best ways to see the Amalfi Coast is to hop on a boat tour.

Boat tours on the Amalfi Coast can also be very expensive! After searching for sometime, I finally found a reasonably priced boat tour under Airbnb experiences. The reviews were so good that I decided to book the tour and I was so glad that I did!

What to Expect on the Tour

What I loved most about the tour is how small the group size was. We had 7 people on the tour along with Giuseppe the owner/skipper and Brizio his able assistant.

Start of the Tour

We were met by Giuseppe’s wife near the ferry dock in Positano. Everything was communicated clearly the night before and the instructions to meet were crystal clear. After gathering us all up, we were taken to the dock, where we boarded a small boat. After about 5 minutes, we arrived at our boat for the day.

The Boat

This boat was well equipped with everything we could have needed. There was room for the 7 of us to comfortably hang out in the front of the boat or the back. We all opted for the front. The boat also had a small dining area, a bathroom and a lower deck. All equipment like snorkels, towels, life jackets and floating noodles were provided. They even had sunscreen!

The Best Service

What really made this the best boat tour was the service itself. Both Giuseppe and Brizio were extremely attentive to our needs. Whenever I wanted to go from one end of the boat to the other, they always came running to give me a hand. We were all given our own towel which they very attentively held up when we got back on the boat. We also got some snacks and drinks which included prosecco and limoncello shots! Water and other soft drinks were also free flowing.

Where We Went

During this boat trip, we visited the southern part of the Amalfi Coast, from Positano to Atrani including the colorful villages of Praiano, Marina di Praia, Fiordo del Furore and Conca dei Marini. During the tour, Brizio showed us all the important and significant landmarks and places along the coast. I was especially thrilled to get to see Fiordo del Furore, which is said to be one of the most famous sites along the Amalfi Coast and is a little hard to get to by land.

What We Did

During this tour, we were able to stop at 3 beautiful places to swim and snorkel! I really wish I had brought my go-pro as there were thousands of fish swimming along with us! It was truly an incredible sight! Giuseppe and Brizio never rushed us and let us get back on the boat in our own time. We also stopped at a few places to take some incredible pictures with Amalfi’s colorful coastline in the backdrop. Each of us had plenty of time to take many pictures! For lunch, we were picked up by a smaller boat and taken to a local restaurant and then dropped back on the bigger boat.

Overall, it was one of the best tours I have ever taken and one of the most relaxing and fun days I’ve had in a long time!

What to Bring

There is really not a lot you need to bring as everything will be provided!

  • Sunhat and sunglasses
  • Go-pro if you have one or a waterproof phone case
